Amadeus & The ASO

Relaxing and refreshing, the ASO's annual Summer at Symphony Hall is a musical oasis for Atlantans and visitors alike.

This summer's Amadeus & the ASO serves up the magic of Mozart with delicious delicacies from the composer's native Salzburg - coffees, chocolates, pastries and more - Thursday through Saturday, July 10-12, and Thursday through Saturday, July 17-19.

Concerts, which begin at 8 pm under Music Director Robert Spano and Principal Guest Conductor Donald Runnicles, feature ASO soloists Laura Ardan, clarinet, Christina Smith, flute, and Elisabeth Remy, harp; the ASO Chorus; pianist Robert Henry, winner of Georgia State University's 2002 Barili Piano Competition; and soprano Twyla Robinson, mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Bishop, tenor Don Frazure, and baritone Nathaniel Webster.

A 7 pm musical prelude precedes each concert. Mr. Henry plays piano music by Mozart on July 10-12, and the vocal soloists sing Mozart songs on July 17-19.

All seats are a budget-friendly $29. *Thank you to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for all of the information on this wonderful event!

INTERESTING PONDERABLES

Did you know?

No female bee is born to be queen. She's promoted into that elevated position by what she's fed. What the bee experst are trying to figure out is who picks the baby bee for that sort of feeding. And why.

Oppurtunity isn't usually recognized because it looks so much like work.

REPEATERS

Johnny: "I fell into a mud puddle."
Mother: "What? With your new pants on?"
Johnny: "Yes, I fell so fast I didn't have a chance to take them off!"

A Navy Recruit lost his rifle on the firing range. When told he would have to pay for it, he protested. "Suppose I was driving a Jeep and somebody stole it. Would I have to pay for that too?" He was informed that he would have to pay. "Now," said the recruit, "I know why the captain always goes down with his ship!!"

The professor told one of his students: "I don't see how one person can make so many mistakes on his homework." The student confessed: "It wasn't one person. My dad helped."
